Writers, poets, and friends Ellen Hagan & Renée Watson share their new middle grade/YA books, Reckless, Glorious Girl (Feb. 23) and Love is a Revolution (Feb. 2), respectively, at this special virtual book event! Reckless, Glorious Girl is a novel in verse all about the good and bad that comes with middle school, growing up girl, and the strength of family that gets you through it all - a beautiful intergenerational story filled with the questions we all have growing up. About the Author
Ellen Hagan is a writer, performer, and educator. She is the co-author with Renée Watson of Watch Us Rise. Her poetry collections include Blooming Fiascoes, Hemisphere, and Crowned. Her work can be found in ESPN Magazine, She Walks in Beauty, and Southern Sin. Ellen is the Director of the Poetry & Theatre Departments at the DreamYard Project and directs their International Poetry Exchange Program with Japan, South Korea and the Philippines. Renée Watson is a New York Times bestselling author, educator, and community activist. Her young adult novel, Piecing Me Together (Bloomsbury, 2017) received a Coretta Scott King Award and Newbery Honor. Her children's picture books and novels for teens have received several awards and international recognition. Her poetry and fiction centers around the experiences of Black girls and women, and explores themes of home, identity, and the intersections of race, class, and gender.
