Reynaldo García Pantaleón was born in the Dominican Republic in 1967, and has resided in New York City since 1985. His work is a direct translation of everyday life, the hopes and fears that confront us, through paintings, drawings, music, photography, video, printmaking, and objects.
Reynaldo studied art at the Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo and The Art Students League of New York. He has presented several solo shows throughout New York City and in the Dominican Republic, and his work has been a part of numerous group shows. His artworks are part of private collections throughout the world and important public collections that include Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington DC; El Museo Del Barrio, NY; and El Museo Latino, Omaha, Nebraska. He is a founding member of the Dominican York Proyecto GRAFICA (DYPG).
Reynaldo has collaborated with many community groups and artists throughout the years as an artist, graphic designer, printmaker, and musician. He has worked as an arts educator for Palenque (a violence prevention program for the youth based at John Jay College of Criminal Justice), Dominican Women's Development Center, Children’s Aid Society, Juan Pablo Duarte Elementary School/Urban Arts Partnership, Hispanic Society Museum and Library, Gregorio Luperon High School, IS 52, and Word Up Community Bookshop/Libería Comunitaria. He also manages the Elizabeth Catlett Art Space & Printmaking Studio at The People’s Forum.
