Uptown Summer Arts Camp Virtual Showcase

Join Word Up and thirteen other uptown arts organizations as we celebrate the end of our first collaborative (virtual) Uptown Summer Arts Camp. There will be compilation videos highlighting some of the best moments we all shared with our campers.

Find the livestream by following People's Theater Project or follow us on Facebook to watch it with us on August 6th, at 5pm.

This July, we joined forces to create two 2-week summer camps for uptown youth ages 3-18. Classes focuses ranged from dance, folklore, literature, self-empowerment, acting, and more.

Word Up is proud to have offered four different classes:

  • "La Casa en tu Casa", a storytime hosted by Melissa Guzman, assisted by Robby Kim (ages 3+)
  • "Stories & Storytellers" facilitated  Reza Salazar & Friends, assisted by Robby Kim (ages 6-7)
  • "Voice Texts: Make it Jazzy" facilitated by Memphis Song Washington & Marlahna Miller (ages 7-8)
  • "Power Up" facilitated by  Dulce Marquez & Ernie Alugas (ages 9-10)

Word Up's offerings at the camp are part of our broader Uptown Kid Lit programming, which features book clubs, storytimes, and more. To read more about it, visit our site at www.WordUpBooks.com/UKL.

We look forward to seeing our campers and their families for this closing event.
