Uptown Stories: Zine Machine

Before YouTube and podcasts, there was a surefire way to let people know all about what you feel passionate about, or a new idea you want to share. Zines are self-published magazines that focus on what YOU find important. In this workshop, we'll be breaking all the rules of traditional publishing and throwing out that old magazine design. Start with whatever topic you want - cats, fashion, cars, movies, food, comics, music, gaming, politics, anything! - and we'll use writing, collage, and drawings to create your ideal Zine. As a Zine editor, you'll have full access to all the ks at the Word Up Bookstore, which will serve as headquarters for our Zine workshop. Once you layout your first edition, we'll use the time-honored way of mass producing your Zine: the photocopier. It sounds like a simple idea, but Zines have started revolutions and educated the masses. If you have something to say and want others to know about it, this is the workshop for you!
