Bios:

Dominican writer Marianela Medrano has lived in Connecticut since 1990. She is also a psychotherapist, with a Ph.D. in psychology. As a psychotherapist she uses literature, with a special concentration in poetry as a healing tool.  She combines literature, psychology, and her research on the Sacred Feminine to help others find new ways of knowing the wholeness of being human. Medrano is also a founding participant writer of the Hobart Festival of Women Writers that meets every year in Hobart, NY. She has published the following: Oficio de Vivir (1986), Los Alegres Ojos de la Tristeza (1987), Regando Esencias/The Scent of Waiting (1998), Curada de Espantos (2002), Diosas de la Yuca (2011), Prietica (2013), and Rooting (2018).  Her work appears in literary magazines such as Brooklyn Review (1995), Punto 7 Review (1996) Sisters of Caliban (1996) Callaloo (2000), The Afro-Latin@ Reader (2010), The Black Scholar (2017), among many others.

Annie Finch is a poet, writer, playwright, speaker, ritualist, teacher, editor, critic, performer, and witch. Her books include Spells: New and Selected Poems, A Poet’s Craft, and Among the Goddesses: An Epic Libretto in Seven Dreams, a ritual drama on abortion and winner of the Sarasvati Award in Poetry. She writes often on earth-centered spirituality and is currently completing a new book of poetry and a book of prose, The Witch in You. She lives in Washington, DC.

La escritora dominicana Marianela Medrano vive en Connecticut desde 1990. También es psicoterapeuta y tiene un doctorado en psicología. Como psicoterapeuta, utiliza la literatura, con una concentración especial en la poesía como herramienta de curación. Combina la literatura, la psicología y su investigación sobre la Divinidad Femenina para ayudar a otros a encontrar nuevas formas de conocer la integridad de ser humano.
