Can you help us develop more readers and book lovers among our Uptown youth?

Word Up frequently donates books to schools, classroom libraries, and youth programs. In all our nine years of Word Up, The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series has been one of the most requested series ever! Its illustrated chapter book format has meant that kids of many different reading levels and home languages can access it, and have felt the accomplishment of completing—and enjoying!—books. Teachers and administrators regularly report that their classroom copies are missing—a problem we are all pretty happy to have. And more than once in our community space, we have used The Diary of a Wimpy Kid to turn kids who are reluctant readers into voracious book lovers. In short, we never have enough to give away.

Your purchase of $140 at this link goes toward donating a set of Jeff Kinney books (Diary of a Wimpy Kid books 1-14, plus the first in the Awesome Friendly Kid series) to the many schools and youth programs that ask for these books throughout the year, in Manhattan School District 6, school districts in the Bronx, and beyond.

This set of books has a retail value of $238.84. We are selling them at cost, so that we can get more of these books into the hands of more readers!

We already have a backlog of requests! If you would like to earmark your donation for a particular school or classroom, please let us know in the comments when you make your purchase.
